The Challenge
When I joined Flickwheel, we had minimal organic presence in the automobile space. We needed to establish authority in this category while attracting qualified traffic that would convert into loan applications. Beyond written content, we recognized the need to reach our audience through multiple formats, particularly given the growing popularity of audio content among our target market.
Approach
Working closely with our in-house content marketer, I developed a content strategy that combined SEO-optimized written content with an educational podcast series.
Written content strategy:
Using UberSuggest, I conducted keyword research that revealed key opportunities around car repair financing, maintenance tips, and location-specific searches. We created comprehensive guides, blog posts, and resource articles targeting these keywords.
Podcast development:
I conceptualized and launched “Flick Auto Pod,” Nigeria’s first podcast focused on automotive maintenance and financing. The podcast strategy included:
- Bi-weekly episodes featuring interviews with mechanics, fleet managers, e-hailing drivers, and other automotive professionals.
- Educational content about car maintenance and financial management.
- Success stories from Flickwheel users.
The podcast content was then repurposed to support our SEO efforts:
- Transcribed episodes into blog posts targeting relevant keywords.
- Used guest appearances to build backlinks and authority.
- Generated social media content from episode highlights.
Results:
- Achieved first-page rankings for 65% of target keywords within 6 months
- Grew organic traffic from 0 to over 14,000 visits
- Reduced cost per acquisition by 40% through organic leads
- Generated a consistent stream of loan applications from organic search
- Built a library of 15+ podcast episodes that continued to drive organic discovery
